In the spirit of the holiday season, we are raising funds and collecting gifts for Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
Tony Beck (CEO) has been involved in Native American spirituality for 20 years. The roots of Beck & Bulow come from ceremonial ties to the Lakota people, and this is our way of giving back.
This gift drive by the Flowering Sun Foundation (the nonprofit side of Beck & Bulow) will provide Christmas gifts, winter clothes, tools, kitchen items, meat and other food, crafting supplies, and more for 25 families.
Life expectancy on Pine Ridge Reservation is the lowest of anywhere in the Western hemisphere except for Haiti.
Life expectancy for women is 52 years and for men is 48 years. Pine Ridge has the highest infant mortality rate of anywhere in the country.
97% of the population live below the federal poverty line, with the lowest income per capita in the United States.
This fundraiser will also support six indigenous Shipibo families in the jungle of Pucallpa, Peru.
Especially since the onset of COVID-19, they have struggled immensely with the lack of tourism which their livelihood of selling handmade crafts depends on.
