Happy Native American Day!

It’s a day to commemorate the enduring Native American legacy of fortitude, energy, and strength.

Native American Day is celebrated each year on the fourth Friday of September.

Who is a Native American? Well, any descendants of the indigenous people who were the original inhabitants of the land we now call the United States.

This includes Inuits, Cherokees, Lakotas, and Pueblo, just to name a few tribes.

They originally lived a nomadic hunter lifestyle, in which they moved from one place to another and hunted animals like the bison!

Interesting facts:

• Names of many U.S. states, such as Arizona, Connecticut, Kentucky, and Missouri, are derived from Native American words.
• The word barbecue is from the Arawakan Indian language and means “framework of sticks.”
• Tony Beck, CEO, started this business with JP Bulow after diving into Native American spirituality more than 20 years ago and developing close ties with the Oglala Lakotas, known as the buffalo people.
