Why cooking is good for your health?

Even the most basic cooking is good for your health!

Since the beginning of time, humans have developed the art of cooking — and it all started with placing meat from animals they hunted over the fire.

Nowadays, we have Uber Eats, DoorDash, delivery, restaurants, etc.

All of these modern conveniences haven’t necessarily replaced cooking entirely, but it surely has made people cook less.

Let’s talk about the benefits of cooking your own food.

1. You control the ingredients

Probably the most obvious benefit of cooking your own food is that you know exactly what you’re putting in your body.

This can be vital if you’re allergic to something or have some other type of dietary restriction. Add the fact that you can use healthier ingredients that can improve your well being.

2. You know what you’re eating.

According to scientific studies, we generally eat more when eating at restaurants, as we can’t control the portions.

Also, cooking discourages overeating.

When we ate at restaurants, we normally eat everything, even when we are full.

When we are cooking at home, we’re more likely to save the food for another day.

3. It can help your mental health

The benefits of cooking go beyond physical health.

In many mental health clinics, they use cooking as a treatment for their patients.

Why? When cooking, patients can focus their minds on something positive and creative.

This whole process helps to curb negative thinking and boost confidence.

Also, when you take time to prepare yourself something nourishing, it’s telling yourself that you’re important. Instead of saying, “I’m too busy to take care of myself,” you’re saying, “I’m prioritizing my health and myself.”

4. It can help you socialize and get you out of the house

You’ll need ingredients to cook. And nothing beats going to your favorite local vendors and buying quality ingredients.

If possible, go to a farmer’s market and stock up on fresh produce.

It’s the freshest, the most flavorful and nutritious, and supports local farmers.

When you do that, you can talk to other people who love to cook too. Farmers are often happy to share with you tips or new recipes that you have never thought of.

5. Saves you money!

Eating out won’t break your budget, assuming you’re doing it once in a while.

But eating out frequently? That adds up.

It can be tempting to eat out (especially considering that you don’t have to spend time cooking the meal), but you’re paying for more than just the food.

Restaurants are made to make a profit (duh!), so when they price their food, they factor in staffing costs, ingredients, cooking, and general restaurant expenses.

When you’re at home cooking, all you have to do is consider the price of your ingredients. And with the money that you’re saving, you can cook with higher quality ingredients and prepare amazing meals.

Cook with the best meat in the world.
